Healing Arts Victoria

My art takes the viewer on a visual journey into the mind's eye. The mandalas that I create are influenced by tradition Buddhist mandalas and by the beauty that I find in nature and the energy that resides in all living things.

About Me

sarahj
My vision is to express what I see in my mind’s eye and to capture the beauty of what lies in the imagination using movement, symbols and vivid colour. In addition to being a visual artist I am also a counsellor. I began painting in 2008 as a way of processing my experience with loss and transition. Painting is a form of meditation for me and is a beautiful way for me to maintain life balance. I am inspired by the world around me which is so full of beauty – the natural world and the elements: earth, air, fire and water. The backgrounds of my paintings are like a beach covered in smooth round pebbles. I am also inspired by the symmetry and infinite nature of fractals and the related symbol of the spiral which is also found in so many places in nature. When I began painting I also began practicing Kundalini yoga which has inspired many of my creations. Much of the inspiration that I receive to create each of my pieces comes from visualizations that I bring to mind during the gaps between thoughts that occur during yoga meditation.
